Anchors made easy

gettin all nautical and stuff, but bear with me.

Just about everywhere you look on Cape Ann, and New England seacoast in general is boats and boat stuff. It's all good, I mean boats rock, I used to live for them pre-surf.

But at the rate things are going, surfing is gonna mean boating as well - I started this out as a gripe, but now I'm all up, boating to a cool offshore spot? and the problem with that is?? I mean you can't sling a cat without hittin a damn boat of some kind out here.

That said:

Anchors made clear and easy - because at this rate surfing will mean boating - far from the madding crowd.

Nearby Indoor Rock Climbing Gym

IMG_5633.JPG
Some good friends of mine are really into this. Over the years, I have yet to meet a climber I haven't liked. I think climbers and surfer are kindred spirits, so many climbers surf and surfer climb.
IMG_5649.JPG
What happens is one guy or gal will climb, others watch and offer moral support - well you get it. I'm happy to watch - for now. It isn't too much of a dude fest - there were some girls there.

Shooting climbers = lots of ass-shots.

Motorsports Monday - Birdcage Maserati

The Maserati Tipo 61 (commonly referred to as the Maserati Birdcage) is one of the best known sports racing cars of the early 1960s. The car was produced between 1959 and 1961 by Maserati for racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It became famous for its intricate tubular space frame chassis, containing about 200 chro-moly steel tubes welded together, hence the nickname "Birdcage". This method of construction provided a more rigid and, at the same time, lighter chassis than other sports cars of the time. By recessing the windscreen base into the bodywork, Maserati was able to reduce the effect of new Le Mans rules demanding a tall windscreen.

Q: Why is this wave from last week empty?

A: Because it was 18° (-8° C) with strong off-shores. At that point even a 6mm is about as useful as wearing kleenex.

This is becoming tiresome.

For those who wanted the ultimate in pavement shaking power, the 427 with 425 hp was the answer, equipped with dual four-barrel carbs, and plenty of torque.

Surfing in the snow - Jan. 2, 2010

No Epic rides, but this give's you a good idea of what we deal with here. My friend Dave shot this on Jan 2. It's me and just 2 other people on a pretty fun day despite the snow.

This is an unedited clip, so you can scrub though quickly. I had already caught my bomb by the time he showed up. Again, just to give my friends on the west coast, UK, Japan, etc, what it's like around here. Enjoy & thanks Dave!

Stolen idea - living in da 603

IMG_1858.JPG
I get pretty inspired by ideas from my friends. A big idea that I ripped off is the prospect of living up on the seacoast of NH. Any original ideas I run with invariably end in disaster, so, so much for being original. And lately, I've run out of ideas, so why not rip some off & see if they work for me? Hey, I can commute to my job and surf, plus Portsmouth has so much going for it.

I saw this on Flickr and just about sprayed my tea all over the monitor. I brushed enough snow off my car to last me. But it's nice to see stylish folks back in the day had to brush snow off their cars - oh what fun!

Can you imagine one of these in the snow? Amazing

Now this is more like it:

Cold air, snow, waves see in the new year

I kept it local and had a ball. Surfing in the snow - well, I'm not going to make a habit out of this. 36 hours out of the water and I'm still warming up.

The local spot was fun & glassy on new years day, firing on the 2nd day (fyi - head high is firing for me). That baby blue Junod trims, climbs, turns like nobody's business.
