Why old quarries rule

IMG_2094.JPG
The water was a bit pollen-coated but it's still the best feeling after working outside all day, then biking uphill on a single speed on a warm day, then hopping into cool, clear water. Talk about taking the edge off. I'll be back.

Sadhana

An earlier dumb post for today was deleted.

No pictures, I'd get my ass kicked, and ya'll understand. OK - I'll use this.
IMG_2050a.jpg

But after a weird weird day, just 4 of us were blessed with glassy all time beach break, and I mean all time. It's been bigger, it's been as glassy, but for me, never so satisfying.

Maybe you know. We had one of those sessions that gets your head super-straight, something has inside has changed for real, talk about a catalyst! The buzz is still here, I don't ever want to come down from this higher level, things are clearer up here.

All this during the best sunset I have ever seen. Right out of a Hopper painting. Anyone else notice?

Hopefully this will come to you.

oh yeah: m-zeke power!

warm evening mellow

Nothing epic but warm enough to use the 3-2 no boots - no gloves. The m-zeke shines on!

Loggers - isnt't it depressing when strictly short board types kill it on longboards?

Another question - any tips on keeping water drops off the housing?

Motorsports Monday '67 Ford GT40 Mk IV - Le Mans winner

Carroll Shelby and one from his stable. American design, fabrication, muscle, and drivers win the 24 Heures du Mans in style in 1967. No stars & stripes, no USA! USA! USA!, just results and gorgeous cars. And dig the "Only in America" scallops on the side - a very cool homage to America's Hot Rod heritage. Shelby ran the show, alright.

m-z renewal in May fun

How can a board so fun get used so little? No answer. So for the next month or so, big or small, local or away, the Mini Zeke will be it. All turns and glide, 9'0" x 23" x 3", and with a step or two up towards the nose, all the better, this ain't no funshape, and it ain't no hull.

Plus a few lessons learned:

  • it was wrong to let this basically collect dust over the past 2 years

  • lighter, looser: more cheer

  • breathe while riding, it works

Tyler Surfboards Magneato Model

Tyler's made some radical advances in siglefin design, this thing's AMAZING, I gotta get a closeup look next time I'm out. I know Tyler could rip on my car door, but look at that thing turn! On one fin! Are you kidding me?!

God, I miss that place.

Roller Derby Fun Smile Time

IMG_5963a.jpg
Always a good time, and there's one hell of a post-bout stomp afterwards. The dames are super good will ambassadors, they work hard and it shows. They're about as stoked as stoked can be.

There's probably a derby league in your area, open yourself, have cup of lighten up, and check it out.

Respek part 2 Jon Chino Surfboards

Respek part II
Jon Chino Surfboards
Jon Wong, aka Chino has been shaping boards in Boston's Chinatown for years. He's about as stoked as you can get, and is one of the few New England surfers who can really charge the heavy shit like Ruggles and big winter Rincon, to name a few. He shapes a damn clean board, and is now venturing into Logs and stand ups. Also, he fixes dings like they never even happened, I can attest to that.

Aural fixation

^Not my ears by the way

My doctor says he'll turn me away if I show up with another Good Harbor aural petri dish.

It's enough that my ears have to listen to a lot of shit on a daily basis, but to immerse them in it is sheer self-neglect.

Dippin'

May 3, and we at the tyde were able to log in a respectable "first dip of the season sans-wetsuit" at Hob's End.

Dippin' - creating anticipation of warmer water, like last summer (above). It's also a Hank Mobley album (below).

The Hive - it's what's happening, there's some cool joints in the pipeline.
